Expert Recommendation
.Overview
With its large sensor size and high ISO capabilities, the Fujifilm F31fd is a great camera for freezing moving subjects and taking their photos indoors without needing to use the flash. It also has a face detection feature which helps ensure that you focus on your babies and young children instead of nearby objects.
My Best In Class Pick
Fujifilm FinePix F31fd
If you can still find either of them for sale, the Fujifilm F30 or F31fd would be my top pick, whichever you can get for less money. If you can’t find them, the F40 is a good choice, also. If you prefer using AA batteries, a viewfinder, and 4x zoom, then go with the Canon PowerShot A570.
Canon PowerShot A570 IS
Canon A570 (7 megapixels, 4x zoom) has good photo quality and features. It has 4x zoom, red eye fix, face detection, and IS. It can produce good results up to ISO 400.
Fujifilm Finepix F31fd
Fuji F30, F31 and F40 are famous for their large super CCD sensor and high ISO capabilities which will better freeze moving subjects and allow for better photos in low light. All of these have a reputation for good results up to ISO 800. These three models are very similar with only a few minor differences. All of them have 3x zoom. However, they lack a viewfinder and use lithium batteries which cost more than AA’s. The F30 and F31 have 6 megapixels and the F40 has 8 megapixels. The F31 is the same as the F30 except it has face detection (FD). The F40 has FD, also. The F40 has fewer manual controls but can use SD cards. The F30/F31 are 2006 models so harder to find.
