In my work as a journalist, i’ve occasionally had to provide photos to accompany my articles; I once landed the front cover of a newspaper travel section with a 35mm point-and-shoot, in the days before before digital cameras became affordable. Working alongside many professional shutterbugs allowed me to pick up some techniques and tips, and after seeing good results from an East African vacation i photographed with a 4mp/10x zoom Fujifilm camera, i made the jump to DSLR with the Nikon D80 in early 2007. Currently, I shoot a lot of artist portraits and concert shots for my other job and am starting to get into landscape and “street”-style shooting as well. I love available-light shots and shoot with no flash whenever possible. The camera is an amazing tool, a mechanical eye that can not only capture moments in time, but preserve them for all eternity.
